​Municipal water systems across Johannesburg have reached a state of normalisation following the completion of the third and final phase of Rand Water's critical infrastructure maintenance. Johannesburg Water confirmed on Thursday that while primary reservoirs are supplying adequately, a full restoration in high-lying or peripheric zones may require several additional days to achieve hydraulic equilibrium.

The Braamfischerville, Doornkop, and Fleurhof reservoirs have returned to standard operational levels, with direct feeds currently classified as supplying normally. The Roodepoort Deep direct feed has also achieved full recovery.

However, technical constraints remain in the Meadowlands precinct. While the Meadowlands Reservoir is functional, its direct feed has yet to reach full capacity. Officials indicated that the delayed restoration in specific sections of the Meadowlands grid is consistent with the logistical complexities of recharging subterranean pipelines.

Johannesburg Water technical teams remain on-site to monitor the restoration phase and address potential airlocks, a common disruption following major system recharges.

The utility, a municipal-owned entity of the City of Johannesburg, urged residents in recovering zones to remain patient as the network's pressure is progressively calibrated to meet urban demand.
