Johannesburg will raise a glass to South African wine culture when the Standard Bank Private WineX 2026 returns to the Sandton Convention Centre from Wednesday, 28 to Friday, 30 October. The three-night showcase is expected to bring together about 9 000 wine enthusiasts, with more than 120 exhibitors presenting some 700 wines and brandies. From celebrated cellars to smaller boutique producers, visitors will have an opportunity to explore the diversity of the Cape Winelands without leaving Johannesburg.

Now in its 25th year at the Sandton Convention Centre, WineX has grown beyond conventional wine tasting into a broader lifestyle experience combining wine, art, music and entertainment. The format also gives newcomers an accessible introduction to wine, with producers on hand to discuss their craft, varieties and vintages, while established enthusiasts can seek out limited releases and less familiar labels.

“The magic of WineX lies in making the world of wine welcoming to everyone, from curious first-time tasters to seasoned collectors. Newcomers can engage directly with passionate winemakers; ask the questions they have always wanted to ask and build their knowledge with confidence. There are no “secret codes" and no elitism; only a shared enthusiasm for wine, learning and wealthier connections," says Janice Fridjhon, the event's publicist.

The opening evening on Wednesday, 28 October, is reserved for invited Standard Bank clients and guests. Public attendance follows on Thursday, 29 and Friday, 30 October, from 5pm to 9pm, with final admission at 20:30pm. Tickets are available through Webtickets and include a tasting glass. Admission is restricted to guests aged 18 and older.

“For Johannesburg, WineX offers another opportunity to experience Sandton as a meeting point for hospitality, culture and major lifestyle events," Fridjhon adds.
