Joburg Water and the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) are closing in on eradicating road works reinstatement backlogs.

The slower than usual turnaround times has been the result of technical problems with two different programmes used by the individual entities. The report necessary for the JRA to complete restoration work once Joburg Water completed their work, was not being produced.

A task team has been assigned to deal with all the outstanding issues, including the technical issue at the source. This task team will generate and submit a report to the JRA within the coming week.

To further assist with attending to this backlog, Joburg Water will also make use of JRA’s road surfacing contractors, who will be utilised for the reinstatement work requirements across the City.

Joburg Water has since issued the list of outstanding wayleaves and work orders to JRA.

To date, over 700 wayleaves and work orders of 2200 have been confirmed.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused as a result of these technical challenges, but assure residents that this is receiving our full attention.
