Tomorrow, Wednesday, 13 March 2019, the Executive Mayor, Cllr Herman Mashaba, will be joined by the MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services (EISD), Cllr Nico de Jager, at the launch of the second phase of the electrification of Meriting Informal Settlement.

The sod-turning ceremony will officially launch the project, which will supply electricity to 480 households. City Power will also install 120 streetlights during the electrification of the area.

It has been at the core of this pro-poor government to give dignity back to our residents that have had to make do with very little. By electrifying Meriting Informal Settlement, we are able to restore this dignity and help families build a secure future with access to basic services.

There will be opportunities for the media to conduct interviews and take photos.
