The City wishes to advise its customers that our revenue customer service centres will not be operating on the 8th of May 2019 due to the day being declared a public holiday.

Furthermore, the 8th of May is an essential day where the country will give its citizens an opportunity to cast their vote in the national elections.

As the City, we thought it is very important to recognize this day and honour it since voting is a fundamental right of every citizen as it enables them to choose the leaders of tomorrow.

Importance of voting:  This is the opportunity for all South African citizens who qualify to make their voices heard. Citizens should understand that by making their mark on the 8th of May, proves that they are taking a stand and have a right in this country for their voices to be heard.

Voting not only help citizens to realise the importance of their citizenship but also a basic process that keeps a nation’s governmental system working in order to implement various policies for the benefit of its citizens.

We would like to wish the City of Johannesburg’s residents a happy voting day and know that their vote counts!
