Pikitup, the City of Johannesburg’s waste management entity would like to advise residents and business owners that refuse will be collected on all public holidays excluding Christmas Day, Friday 25 December 2020.
Therefore, there will be no waste collection on Christmas Day 25 December 2020.
Residents whose scheduled waste collection day falls on Christmas Day are advised to keep their refuse bins inside their properties and placed them outside for collection on Friday 1st of January 2021.
Pikitup’s festive season waste collection is as follows:
• 16 December 2020 waste collection services will be rendered in all the scheduled areas;
• 25 December 2020 Friday, no waste collection;
• 1 January 2021 Friday waste will be collected in all scheduled areas.
Meanwhile, Pikitup is appealing to residents of the City to refrain from offering its employees Christmas Gifts. Pikitup does not also allow its employees to request or ask for Christmas donations from residents. In the event that Pikitup employees request or demand Christmas gifts, residents should report such incidents to the organisation.
In this regard residents are requested to take a picture of the concerned employee, the vehicle used and its registration number and send the details to the waste management company to enable it to facilitate the necessary internal disciplinary processes.
