We are pleased to announce that the City of Johannesburg has awarded a new contract for the maintenance and management of its key service delivery vehicles which will enable entities like Joburg Water to return to full capacity. The current vehicles have been grounded without a maintenance contract in place, meaning that Joburg Water and City Power have been unable to fully attend to power outages, water outages, and burst pipes.
The lack of a proper contract was the result of years of mismanagement by the previous ANC government, resulting in contract lapses and numerous deviations. The new Multi-Party Government is now acting on several forensic investigations into the awarding of vehicle fleet contracts to hold guilty officials and companies to account for fleecing the City of millions and sabotaging vital service delivery to residents. There are new measures in place to ensure that these contracts are monitored to ensure that we receive value for money, quality vehicles, and uninterrupted service for residents.
Joburg Water will finally be able to attend to numerous burst pipes and water outages which have frustrated residents across the City. Once we have confirmed the delivery of new vehicles and maintenance schedules, we will update residents with the plan for dealing with the backlog of outages and fixing burst pipes. We apologise for the interruption in service and are doing everything we can to return to full operational capacity.
The Golden Start of the new Multi-Party Government in the City of Johannesburg is committed to ensuring quality service delivery to residents through hard work, zero corruption, and clean governance.
