The City of Johannesburg is looking for a top prosecutor to take on the position of Director of Municipal Courts and Prosecutions. This position is a top priority for the Multi-Party Government as we aim to make Johannesburg a safe and secure city where the rule of law is upheld at all times.

While we are ramping up bylaw enforcement across the City, we need to make sure that our efforts are not in vain. Once citations and tickets are issued, we rely on the Municipal Courts to administer fines and sentences against offenders. While the administration of the courts is the responsibility of the National Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, the Director of Municipal Courts and Prosecutions will be responsible for supporting the National Prosecuting Authority and effectively tracking all cases to ensure that they are successfully prosecuted.

We call on all qualified and dedicated South Africans to join the fight to rebuild our city and restore the rule of law in our society. As we continue to fight corruption and state capture, we must make sure that every illegal action, however big or small, is stopped. For that, we need a top prosecutor to lead our efforts in the City.

Applications are made online through the City’s website, and will close on 4 October. Only the most qualified and committed person will be chosen.
