It is good news for property owners, as the City of Johannesburg extends the inspection and objection period for its General Valuation Roll (GVR) 2023 from 31 March to 5 May 2023.

The City took a decision to extend the inspection and objection period after taking into consideration the concerns and views from different stakeholders. Some customers have not received their section 49 notices as yet and had requested the City to extend the inspection and objection period.

According to Kgamanyane Maphologela, the Director of Customer Communications for the City's Group Finance Department, the extension period demonstrates the City's willingness to become customer centric and responsive to residents.

“The extension is done in the spirit that shows that we are a City that listens to its stakeholders. This will afford all the residents enough time to object against any entry of their property should they wish to do so," says Maphologela.

Maphologela says any person may inspect the Valuation Roll within the inspection period and lodge an objection against any of the entries that appear in the Valuation Roll.
