Johannesburg, [02 February 2024] - The City of Johannesburg's Executive Mayor, Cllr Kabelo Gwamanda, along with City Manager Mr. Floyd Brink and senior officials, embarked on an oversight visit to the Inner City today. This visit aligns with the agenda of the Inner-City Partnership Forum scheduled for February 6, 2024.

The primary objective of the visit was to conduct thorough oversight on various critical issues affecting the Inner City. These issues include police visibility, law enforcement, waste management, road conditions, water leaks, parks, and homelessness/displaced persons.

The visit commenced with an inspection of the Lillian Ngoyi Restoration Project, emphasizing the City's commitment to preserving and revitalizing important landmarks within the Inner City.

Continuing their assessment, the delegation proceeded to the High Court Precinct to evaluate the impact of the City's interventions aimed at enhancing urban management in the area. This assessment is crucial in ensuring effective governance and sustainable development within the precinct.

Mayor Gwamanda also conducted oversight inspections at 44 Nugget Street and 80 Albert Street, focusing on addressing specific concerns and ensuring the well-being of residents and businesses in these locations.

Furthermore, the visit included a stop at the "Adopt a Spot Port" project situated on Plein Street, at the corner of Nugget & Goud. This initiative aims to create a cleaner and more vibrant environment through community involvement and collaboration.

Lastly, the delegation visited the Transport Nodes at the MTN Taxi Rank to oversee informal trading activities in the Inner City. This assessment is vital in promoting economic opportunities while ensuring the orderly functioning of the city's transportation system.

Mayor Gwamanda expressed his commitment to addressing the identified issues and working collaboratively with stakeholders to enhance the quality of life for all residents in the Inner City.
