Johannesburg is gearing up for an exciting showcase of young football talent as the FARPost Cup Under-17 Tournament kicks off on Saturday, 12 September 2026, at the iconic Nike Centre in Klipspruit, Soweto. The tournament will bring together some of the country's most promising township footballers, with four eagerly anticipated fixtures set to get the competition underway:
- Eldos vs Kwa-Thema
- Mamelodi vs Kagiso
- Olievenhoutbosch vs Riverlea
- Soweto vs Vosloorus
The tournament is a partnership between the City of Johannesburg, Lucky Star, FUTPRO and the Johannesburg Football Association (JFA), aimed at creating opportunities for young players to showcase their talent and take their first steps towards higher levels of the game.

JFA president Phil Mogotsi said the tournament also has an important social purpose, providing young people with positive activities and something to look forward to. He urged coaches to support players both on and off the field, including helping talented youngsters progress into senior football structures and professional opportunities.
Lucky Star Brand Manager Busisiwe Mkhize said the tournament would expose young players to opportunities beyond the football pitch, including careers in broadcasting and marketing.
FUTPRO's Eugene Zwane highlighted the importance of investing in local talent and creating active spaces that keep young people engaged. “I got my big break at a football tournament. Investing locally and in the country is what must happen to grow the country's economy."
With participating local football associations receiving their playing kits, the countdown is on. On 12 September, Joburg will welcome the next generation of football stars as they compete for the FARPost Cup title.
